OSwiss - tournament management software

OSwiss is a FREE program designed to make running tournaments easier. Great care has been taken to ensure that it has many useful functions, and at the same time is easy to use. The program requires the Java runtime environment JRE version 6 or higher. If you do not have it, you can download it free of charge from the Java website.

Let's imagine that we are organizing a chess competition with 30 participants. We have already prepared the room, we have provided the appropriate number of tables and chessboards. Now all that's left to do is match the players in pairs and start the games... but how to do it? You can try round-robin (all vs all), but with such a number of players, the tournament would drag on forever, while the ladder system (i.e. the one used in football games) is extremely unfair - the compromise is the so-called swiss system.

The swiss system determines the method of pairing players in individual rounds of the tournament, and after its completion generates the final classification. The program makes sure that players with a similar level of play meet each other, which makes it (together with the round-robin system) the most fair mode of the game.

You can read more about how the program works in the documentation.
